Hello MMC readers, my name is Mozzie Malpekar. I kept on hearing about this special edition of Rachana at home and thought I should write about how the last few months have been for me. Of course, to make it into the magazine, I had to ask Maitreyee Malpekar to help me but don’t worry, everything said here are from my thoughts..
Before COVID-19 struck, life was pretty good. I got to go outside, play with my toys, and eat lots of food. There were some things that I didn’t really like, though. Every day, my family would leave for work in the morning and not come back for hours and hours! I had to just sit around the house by myself and do nothing. I couldn’t even go outside. Sometimes I would look outside the window and bark at the squirrels, but it just wasn’t the same. I was really bored— lonely, even.
All of that changed when COVID-19 cases spiked in the U.S. Maitreyee came back to live with us from college, and my family stopped leaving the house every day. They didn’t even go out on the weekends like they used to! Now I get to hang out with them all the time! Whenever I get bored, I just go and nudge one of them. They play with me, take me outside, and give me extra treats. I even get to hang out with them when they are in their work meetings. I think I can help them resolve some of their problems at work too. Sometimes, I’m not allowed to be in the room with them if they are in an important meeting, which makes me sad. But I still get to hear what they are saying, and they invite me back in as soon as their meeting is over— which really isn’t too bad.
The best thing I learned during COVID-19 was how to run a mile with Dad. I think I can run faster than he does, but I need to keep pace with him. Here is the link to my video. https://photos.app.goo.gl/qvhAbQaPX61b77PN7 Enjoy!
I don’t really know what COVID-19 is or why it’s here, but I’m really happy that I get to spend lots of time with my family during quarantine. I hope all the other pets around the world are as lucky as I am right now.
